Multi-Strand Necklace with Swarovski Crystal Beads and Cultured Freshwater Pearls

This is a really easy home made necklace from beads.

Step 1
Creating Pearl Bead DropsPlace an 8mm Swarovski crystal pearl onto a headpin and bend the wire to a 90 degree angle using your chain-nose pliers. With your side cutters, cut the wire to 1/2 inch. Place the thumbnail of your non-dominate hand under the bend of the wire. Hold the end of the wire with your round-nose pliers and roll the wire into a circle that’s centered over the bead. (Please see additional resources for more information on making a basic jewelry loop.)
Step 2
Repeat Step 1 to make 18 Swarovski crystal pearl drops. Repeat Step 1 again using the 6mm Swarovski crystal pearls to make 19 drops.
Step 3
Attaching the Clasp to Beading ThreadCut a 34-inch length of Silkon® and thread onto needle, leaving four inches of length on one side. String on one light rose Swarovski crystal briolette and one jet Swarovski crystal briolette. Add a 1/4 inch piece of French wire the first hole on one half of the clasp.
Step 4
Pass the needle back through both beads, pulling the thread so there is approximately 1-inch of thread remaining on the shorter end. Pull the beads tightly against the French wire and the clasp; the French wire should form a curve over the clasp end, protecting the thread from the metal of the clasp. Using the one-inch length of thread and the working thread (the end with the needle) make a double knot and dab with ”Loctite 409” gel adhesive. Let the adhesive dry then trim any excess thread from the short end. (Please see additional resources for more information on how to use french wire.)
Step 5
Assembling the Body of the Necklace, Strand 1String 7x4mm Swarovski crystal briolettes in the following color pattern:

  • Crystal silver shade
  • Topaz
  • Crystal color
  • Light sapphire
  • Crystal moonlight
  • Light peridot
  • Crystal golden shadow
  • Crystal copper
  • Tanzanite
  • Crystal AB
Finish the pattern with a 6mm Swarovski crystal pearl drop (from Step 1). Repeat the pattern 17 more times for a total of 18 sets.
Step 6
Attaching the Necklace to the Other End of the ClaspString a 1/4 inch length of French wire onto your thread immediately following the last bead. Pull the thread through the first loop on the other half of the clasp (so the strand is attached to the same loop on each side of the clasp). String the wire back through the last two beads and pull the thread snugly, eliminating any slack in the strand although not so tight the strand kinks. Make a half-hitch knot, then repeat to make an additional knot between the beads. Dab the knot with ”Loctite 409” gel and let dry. Trim any excess thread.
Step 7
Assembling the Body of the Necklace, Strand 2Cut a 38-inch length of Silkon and thread onto a needle, leaving four inches of length on one side. String on one light rose 9x5mm briolette and one jet 7x4mm briolette. String a 1/2 piece of French wire and pass through the middle loop on one side of the clasp.
